Swing Racquet + Paddle will be the largest multi-racquet sport complex in the country bringing the racquet and paddle sports community together on a 50-acre park-like campus. The project features nearly 100 total playing surfaces for tennis, pickleball, padel, beach tennis/volleyball, and table tennis, plus a multi-purpose gymnasium, public park with free access to courts, and a trail system with trailhead to a future city greenway. Swing will also feature 120,000 square feet of indoor tennis, fitness space, member lounge, locker rooms, conference facilities, retail pro shop, café, on-site physical therapy and sports medicine, and a sports technology innovation hub, and will include a separate “sportstainment” restaurant concept. The inspiration and intent for the project will address a major void in the marketplace, engage the community, improve the health and wellness of local residents, and be a significant economic development engine while hosting international, national, regional, state, and local sporting events. Swing Racquet + Paddle will also be the springboard for one of the fastest growing sports in the world as
the National Campus for Padel.
Stewart was engaged very early in this project as the concept of Swing Racquet + Paddle was conceived. We developed the early conceptual master plans to confirm that the desired program could be accommodated on the subject property which concluded with a unanimous City of Raleigh Council approval and a successful 99-year lease agreement with the city-owned parcel. Furthermore, we were engaged as the owner’s representative to develop an RFQ process to select an architectural partner followed by selection of a CM. As a multi-discipline design and engineering firm, Stewart is excited to utilize every practice area within the firm on this project. Master planning has concluded and the schematic design phase is well underway.
