RDU Gateway Landscape

Terminal 1 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport underwent a major renovation to modernize the airport and the passenger experience. In conjunction with the renovation, it became evident that a new visitor entry experience was needed along the airport’s existing entry road.

Stewart developed a landscape master plan to create a new gateway element to welcome visitors to the airport. The plan’s goals were to provide a calming arrival experience, complement the existing RDU arrival experience, create a sustainable landscape, and develop a strong relationship with the architectural forms which define the airport aesthetic.
