NC State University Case Commons Residence Hall

Stewart provided landscape architecture, structural engineering, and civil engineering for the design phase of a new 28,000-square-foot, four-story residential building for students and student-athletes at NCSU, including site design, streetscape improvements, an entry terrace, and LEED submittal services.

Given the urban campus nature of the project, site work focused on student spaces, streetscape and common areas. The private internal courtyard featured site amenities along with ornamental understory trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers to complement and soften the hardscape. The planting plan was designed to feature drought-tolerant, water-wise, and native plant material, to the extent practicable, to ensure sustainable and healthy vegetation. The project was put on hold by the University.
