The Town of Fort Mill provides an important link for the Carolina Thread Trail through York County. The first phase of the Nation Ford Greenway is a 1.25-mile section that connects a future trailhead at the Regent Parkway with the existing Springfield Trail. Users of the trail enjoy gorgeous views of Sugar Creek and view old-growth mixed floodplain forest. The greenway is a natural surface trail through the floodplain areas adjacent to the banks of Sugar Creek.
Stewart provided planning and design services for the project. Services included GIS and field planning to establish a preliminary alignment, surveys, geotechnical investigation, natural system inventory and evaluation, public involvement, permitting, hydrologic analysis, drainage structure design, and final trail design.
