Meck Courthouse

The Details

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Attorney’s Office operated within the county’s old historic courthouse building, and the district attorney has shared areas of the building with other user groups in the past. Phase 1 enlarges the district attorney’s control over the building. The entire main level underwent major renovations. The scope of work involved minor renovations on the 2nd and 3rd levels in order to achieve more workspace for the District Attorney’s Office. Renovations also included adding a new accessible lift to the exterior of the building, a new control desk in the main lobby, a new central file room, various renovated offices and support spaces, renovated restroom facilities, updated mechanical and electrical systems, and various interior finish improvements. Phase 2 design objectives included daylight and interior light quality, strategic HVAC placement, security, intuitive and efficient space planning, restroom compliance and consolidation, and flexibility.
