This two-mile corridor is the first phase of Four Mile Creek Greenway. It was selected as the second pilot project (the suburban model) resulting from the 1999 Mecklenburg County Greenways Master Plan. The greenway connects residential neighborhoods to Squirrel Lake Park, Matthews Elementary School, and Matthews Community Center/downtown.
