Downtown South is a new district at the Southern Gateway for Raleigh. Stewart has been involved since the project’s inception to help guide the overall master plan and the design of the public realm. The district’s core tenets include “lean into nature” and “create a district, not a development.” Informed by these tenets, our work on Downtown South focuses on creating an engaging public realm, connecting to neighborhoods, greenway systems, and a new vibrant urban district. Our planning blends active public urban and park spaces with a preserved floodplain and stream corridor.
