The Details

Chapel Hill Road Park is a 33.67-acre active recreation park acquired with city bond funds. The Sports Field Park (Phase I) includes three soccer fields, two baseball fields, a restroom/concessions building, four tennis courts, parking, greenway trail connections, a basketball court, and a playground. The Environmental Education Theme (Phase II) includes permaculture, greenhouse/classroom building, a playground, trails, a boardwalk, parking, shelters, and gardens. The team worked with the city to add two tennis courts (for a total of six) and increase the size of the baseball fields to accommodate the adjacent Githens Middle School. One soccer field was eliminated to minimize environmental impacts as well as construction cost. We provided fencing, lighting, landscaping, bleacher seating, materials and irrigation sensitive to the environmental education theme for the park.
