The Details

Credit Suisse First Boston Bank (CSFB) built this data center as part of its expansion of its global business center to the Research Triangle Park. The data center new belongs to Fidelity Investments. It houses the support and information technology staff of its investment banking division. In addition, after 9/11, federal regulators requested that global banking businesses locate some of their data centers outside of major financial hubs. For CSFB, the Research Triangle was a desirable location with its wealth of technology professionals.

The structure is one-story and is 160,000 square feet. The foundation system consists of shallow foundations bearing on rock. The roof consists of precast concrete double tees and inverted tee girders supported by precast concrete columns and precast concrete walls. The structure’s lateral system consists of precast concrete shear walls. The slab on grade consists of a 6” reinforced concrete slab. Numerous trenches are located throughout the slab on grade to support the infrastructure of the data systems.
