Cary Parkway/High House Road Intersection Improvements

Stewart led a conceptual design effort to develop creative design solutions to reduce the negative visual impacts of the proposed road widening. The goal of the project was to ensure the intersection aesthetic was preserved and enhanced while allowing for an increase in traffic capacity. Stewart worked in concert with a stakeholder committee through a step-by-step process which resulted in the town council’s unanimous approval of the bond. The process included analyzing and illustrating the possible impacts to the elements that make this a signature Cary intersection. These elements included sidewalks, landscape, walls, columns, clock tower, lighting, and signage. Stewart provided recommendations through a series of before and after renderings to illustrate the future replacement and enhancement of effected elements to assure the final intersection met the town’s goal of preserving and enhancing the beauty of the intersection.
