Special Inspector (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Special Inspector for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of progressive testing and/or inspection experience.  Candidates with an Engineering Intern (EI) Certification may be eligible for this position upon completion of one year of relevant experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting field inspections for compliance with project documents, testing of structural elements, and various reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspections and testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate should possess both a NCDOT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I certification and an International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete certification.
  • Be able to lift equipment up to 60 lbs.
  • Be able to performing physical activities required of the testing procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.
  • Be proficient at basic mathematic computations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Have advanced plan/blueprint reading skills.
  • Have a willingness to perform work after regular business hours, on weekends and sometimes on holidays when necessary.
  • Driver’s license required.

Engineering Technician (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The job entails performing visual inspections and /or physical testing of construction materials, which includes (at minimum) soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, etc. Work duties are primarily on construction sites in the Triangle, but some out of town work and some laboratory testing will also be required.

To qualify for this position the candidate must:

  • Be honest, ethical and reliable
  • Be a good communicator (verbal and written)
  • Be independently motivated
  • Be able to read construction drawings
  • Be capable of lifting 50 pounds (equipment)
  • Have 2+ years of relevant testing and/or inspection experience
  • Have the following certification/training, which must be active and in good standing: NCDOT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician (Level I or higher), NCDOT Conventional Density

Transportation Technician (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Transportation Technician for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The job entails inspecting contractor’s operations on a variety of transportation type projects. He/she will perform soil/aggregate testing, concrete/grout/mortar testing, and asphalt testing among other responsibilities both in the field and in the lab. This position requires the following certification/training, which must be active and in good standing.

  • NCDOT Field Technician Level I certification
  • NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician certification
  • NCDOT Conventional Density certification
  • NCDOT ABC Sampling Certification

He/she must be able to lifting of equipment up to 60 lbs and perform physical activities required of the testing procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain. One year or greater of NCDOT testing and/or inspection experience required. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience.

Bicycle & Pedestrian Practice – Project Manager (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Bicycle & Pedestrian Practice Project Manager for our downtown Raleigh office. The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of experience in bicycle and pedestrian and/or roadway design. This position will be responsible for producing consistently high quality bicycle and pedestrian designs for greenways, bike lanes, sidewalks, multi-use paths and complete streets projects. Candidate should possess a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Microstation experience required.
  • NCDOT experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license – required.
  • Drainage and erosion control expertise a plus.
  • Lead design work with limited direction.
  • Ability to cross collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Complete work accurately and in accordance with good engineering codes and practice.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with owners, NCDOT and team members.
  • Knowledge of ADA, MUTCD, FHWA Bike/Ped Design Guidelines and NACTO a strong plus.
  • Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks.
  • Be energetic, self-directed and success focused.
  • Think critically and solve problems.

Geomatics Field Supervisor I (Raleigh)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Geomatics Field Supervisor I for our Raleigh office.  A Geomatics Field Supervisor must be able to oversee and work in a team environment as the leader of a survey crew assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of way, transmission line, transportation, construction and other types of field surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technologies.  Candidate will oversee the crew and equipment in addition to manage the schedule and budget and respond professionally to clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent Required.
  • 3-6 Years of Related Experience
  • NSPS Certified Survey Technician Level II
  • Good mathematical, basic computer and communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Pass a drug test.
  • Dependable and physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites in all weather conditions.
  • Willing and able to work overtime as required.
  • Willing and able to travel for extended periods of time.

Structural Project Manager (Raleigh)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Structural Project Manager in our Raleigh Office. The Project Manger will supervise the execution of structural building projects up to a range of $30M. He/she will direct and manage project development from beginning to end and accept accountability for project results. He/she will collaborate with senior management, project sponsor, and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget, and timeline. Additionally, he/she will develop and maintains schedules for assigned projects and maintain profitability goals for projects set by manager.

The right candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required as some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited University
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 12 years + Experience, building design preferred.
  • Willingness to perform work after regular business hours and on weekends when necessary to meet project deadlines.

Structural Senior Project Engineer (Raleigh)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Structural Senior Project Engineer for our Raleigh office. This person will be responsible for the analysis and design of building’s structural gravity and lateral systems under direct supervision of Project Manager. He/she will perform design in accordance with current Code requirements and accepted engineering standards using both manual and computer methods under the supervision of more senior engineers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited University
  • Registered Professional Engineer required.
  • Experience: 10 years + preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to perform work after regular business hours, on weekends and sometimes on holidays when necessary.
  • Exercise good Judgment; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, codes, and permitting requirements.

Structural Engineering Intern (Charlotte)

Stewart, one of the largest engineering and landscape architecture design firms based in North Carolina, is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to work in our Charlotte office. This is a great opportunity for an individual to expand his/her portfolio and work on a variety of projects in both the public and private sector. Project types include, but aren’t limited to, education, healthcare, institutions, municipalities, architects, departments of transportation and the federal government, as well as commercial, retail, residential and mixed-use developers. The ideal candidate has 0-3 years of experience and will perform structural engineering task as directed by senior engineers. Candidate should possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited University.  AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.

Requirements:

  • Registered Engineering Intern (EI) or planning to take the Fundamentals Exam within the next six months.
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited University
  • Basic understanding of computer software and structural modeling software.
  • Responsible for the analysis and design of building’s structural elements under direct supervision and direction of more senior engineers.  Perform design in accordance with current Code requirements and accepted engineering standards using both manual and computer methods under the supervision of more senior engineers.
