Landscape Architect I (Charlotte)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Landscape Architect I to work in our Charlotte office. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience, have experience working in a multiple discipline environment and be able to coordinate and develop conceptual planning strategies, and prepare design development and construction document packages with cost estimates. He/she will support construction administration and budget management efforts for senior staff. The right person will be responsible for development of creative technical solutions to complex design problems. He/she will have strong design skills at all levels of the planning and design process, including strong digital and hand graphics. He/she will have extensive experience working on projects that include parks, greenways, urban design, streetscape design, and community planning and design. Lastly, this person will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, used to coordinate with multiple disciplines, internally and externally, and within design teams in completing complex planning and design projects. Traveling to project meetings and job sites will be required, as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture.

Registered Professional Landscape Architect.

Geomatics Office Technician (Charlotte)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Geomatics Office Technician to work in our Charlotte office. Geomatics Office Technician must be able to work in a team environment as a member of the delivery team performing calculations, drafting, research and other associated duties while assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of way, transmission line, transportation, construction and other types of field surveys and/or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) location utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technologies. This individual will be responsible for performing office duties to include calculations, drafting and research along with working with survey/sue field data to help prepare final project deliverables. Additionally, this person will be responsible for meeting schedules, budgets, and be able to operate software that includes AutoCAD/MicroStation and associated add-ons (i.e. Civil3d and GeoPak).

Geomatics Project Manager (Charlotte)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Geomatics Project Manager to work in our Charlotte office. The Geomatics Project Manager is responsible for overall management of surveying and/or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) projects. This individual will prepare proposals, negotiation with clients, be accountable for meeting project schedules, milestones, budgets, targets and quality of work goals, as well as, assigning and directing efforts of staff (field crews and technicians). The Project Manager will oversee the preparation of maps and plats, legal descriptions and all other deliverables while directing field work and associated quality reviews throughout the project delivery process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Degree or Equivalent Required

Bachelors Degree in Related Discipline Preferred

10 plus years of Technical Experience in a Geomatics Specialty (Survey, SUE, GIS, photogrammetry, etc.)

IT Student Intern (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking an IT Student Intern to work in our Raleigh Office. Responsibilities include configuring workstation hardware, software and providing technical support over the phone and in person. Intern must be able to multitask, follow HelpDesk operating procedures and respond to questions from callers and walk-ins. He/she will work a minimum of 12 hours per week and will start in January of 2015 and complete the internship through the spring semester of 2015.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma.

Land Planning and Design CAD Technician I (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Land Planning & Design CAD Technician I to work in our Raleigh office. The ideal candidate will have excellent multitasking, analytical and administrative skills. Candidate should have 0-5 years’ experience in land development site design with an emphasis on single/multi-family developments, horizontal mixed use and commercial projects. The candidate would be expected to use AutoCAD Civil 3D for roadways, utilities, storm drainage, grading, and erosion control under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding of AutoCAD as related to: Layer management & usage, drawing scales as they relate to text, dimensions, lines, viewports, etc., plotting & plot scales, pen tables, etc.

Some college courses in Computer Aided Drafting preferred.

This position will be responsible for producing consistently high quality roadway, drainage and erosion control designs on bicycle and pedestrian projects, including greenways, sidewalk, bike lanes and Complete Streets projects. Candidate should possess a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.

Construction Administrator (Raleigh)

Stewart, one of the largest engineering and landscape architecture design firms based in North Carolina, is seeking a Construction Administrator to work in our Raleigh office.  This is a great opportunity for an individual to work on a variety of projects in both the public and private sector.  Project types include, but aren’t limited to, education, healthcare, institutions, municipalities, architects, departments of transportation and the federal government, as well as commercial, retail, residential and mixed-use developers.  The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in construction administration. This person will be responsible for reviewing shop drawings, maintaining the shop drawing log, and performing site visits to confirm that the project is being constructed in accordance with the contract documents and specifications.  He/she will prepare written reports documenting work observed, report deficiencies, and provide recommendations to repair deficiencies.

Special Inspector (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Special Inspector for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of progressive testing and/or inspection experience.  Candidates with an Engineering Intern (EI) Certification may be eligible for this position upon completion of one year of relevant experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting field inspections for compliance with project documents, testing of structural elements, and various reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspections and testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate should possess both a NCDOT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I certification and an International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete certification.

Be able to lift equipment up to 60 lbs.

Be able to performing physical activities required of the testing procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.

Be proficient at basic mathematic computations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Have advanced plan/blueprint reading skills.

He/she will have strong design skills at all levels of the planning and design process, including strong digital and hand graphics. He/she will have extensive experience working on projects that include parks, greenways, urban design, streetscape design, and community planning and design. Lastly, this person will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, used to coordinate with multiple disciplines, internally and externally, and within design teams in completing complex planning and design projects. Traveling to project meetings and job sites will be required, as necessary.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.

Registered Professional Landscape Architect.

10+ years relevant experience preferred

Thorough knowledge of landscape architecture design and methods.

Exercise good judgment; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Proficient skill and experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Programs, Sketch Up or other 3D Modeling

Driver’s license required.
