Landscape Architect I (Charlotte)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Landscape Architect I to work in our Charlotte office. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience, have experience working in a multiple discipline environment and be able to coordinate and develop conceptual planning strategies, and prepare design development and construction document packages with cost estimates. He/she will support construction administration and budget management efforts for senior staff. The right person will be responsible for development of creative technical solutions to complex design problems. He/she will have strong design skills at all levels of the planning and design process, including strong digital and hand graphics. He/she will have extensive experience working on projects that include parks, greenways, urban design, streetscape design, and community planning and design. Lastly, this person will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, used to coordinate with multiple disciplines, internally and externally, and within design teams in completing complex planning and design projects. Traveling to project meetings and job sites will be required, as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Registered Professional Landscape Architect.
  •  5-7 years relevant experience
  •  Exercise good judgment; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  •  Proficient skill and experience in AutoCad, Civil 3D, Microsoft Programs, Sketch Up or other 3D Modeling
  • Driver’s license required.

Structural CAD Technician (Charlotte)

Stewart, a leading multi-discipline engineering firm, has an immediate opening a Structural CAD Technician for the Charlotte office. This person will work with the engineering team to create structural framing plans and details using AutoCAD or REVIT for a building model. Additional responsibilities include, assisting with updating AutoCad and Revit standards, adherence to those standards, and internal file storage management of AutoCAD and REVIT files for structural, architectural, MEP, and Civil drawings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Education requirements include Associates of Applied Science in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or REVIT

 2-7 years of relevant work experience in structural engineering and/or AutoCAD 2005 or higher.

 Proficient in Autocad and REVIT.

Planner I (Raleigh)

Stewart has an immediate opening for a Planner I in our Raleigh office. This person must be able to complete the initial analysis and site design for various types of projects. Primary responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to, performing special studies, planning, and/or field investigations. Conducting site analysis, site layout, and design for projects, and researching local codes, ordinances, and statutory requirements. Also, the person in this position will assist with public involvement, meeting facilitation, and presentations to community groups, as well as local appointed and elected bodies.

Minimum Qualifications

 Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture

 Knowledge of land planning and landscape architecture design and methods.

 Knowledge of AutoCAD and other site design software.

 Knowledge of GIS software.

 Exercise sound judgment and possess skills to defend decisions and methodologies used to arrive at chosen solution or decision.

 Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.

 Willing and able to perform work after regular business hours and on weekends when necessary.

 Must be able to effectively communicate with people (in a professional manner) outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.

Engineering Technician (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The job entails performing visual inspections and /or physical testing of construction materials, which includes (at minimum) soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, etc. Work duties are primarily on construction sites in the Triangle, but some out of town work and some laboratory testing will also be required.

To qualify for this position the candidate must:

- Be honest, ethical and reliable

- Be a good communicator (verbal and written)

- Be independently motivated

- Be able to read construction drawings

- Be capable of lifting 50 pounds (equipment)

- Have 2+ years of relevant testing and/or inspection experience

- Have the following certification/training, which must be active and in good standing.

NCDOT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician (Level I or higher)

Special Inspector (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Special Inspector for our Raleigh testing and inspections group. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of progressive testing and/or inspection experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting field inspections for compliance with project documents, testing of structural elements, and various reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspections and testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • International Code Council (ICC) certification and Engineering Intern (EI) certification are required.
  • NCDOT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I certification are preferred.
  • Be able to lift equipment up to 60 lbs.
  • Be able to performing physical activities required of the testing procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.
  • Be proficient at basic mathematic computations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Have advanced plan/blueprint reading skills.
  • Have a willingness to perform work after regular business hours, on weekends and sometimes on holidays when necessary.
  • Driver’s license required.

Transportation Engineer (Raleigh)

Stewart is seeking a Transportation Engineer for bicycle and pedestrian facility design to join our growing Greenway Design Group. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years experience delivering municipal greenway, sidewalk and bike lane projects, detailed knowledge of bicycle and pedestrian design standards, excellent communication skills and be a skilled project manager. Candidate should possess a four-year university degree in engineering. Position is with the Raleigh, NC office. Relocation expenses considered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Engineer with Bicycle and Pedestrian specific expertise.

NCDOT and municipal project coordination experience preferred.

Lead design work with limited direction.

Strong public speaker with community outreach experience.

Transportation Engineering Technician (Raleigh)

Stewart is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering Technician for work in our Raleigh, NC Transportation practice. The ideal candidate will understand the fundamentals normally used within transportation engineering design projects, and will work with multi-disciplined Engineering teams to complete projects in a professional manner, on budget, and on schedule. The duties of this position include preparation of design calculations, design sketches, checking drawings for completeness and accuracy and other duties related to developing construction plans for various projects. The successful applicant will participate in engineering design and work as part of a Cross Collaborative Design Team on roadway, greenway and bridge projects.

•Assists engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches.

•Create layouts, sketches and electronic document drawing files.

•Strengthen individual skill sets by becoming familiar with and employing detailing requirements to meet various client CAD standards.

•Utilize Microstation, GEOPAK, and other firm provided tools to efficiently create detailed drawings for transportation improvement projects which meet and exceed our clients’ expectations.

•Coordinates between disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

•Performs extensive engineering related computations.

•Prepares detail and quantity calculations. Will be responsible for checking of detail and quantity calculations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

•A two-year technical degree in CAD Design or two year civil engineering technology degree

•Experience within Civil Engineering projects (roadway or bridge)

•Proficient with Microstation V8i

•Experience in GEOPAK is a plus

•Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

•Experience producing NCDOT Layouts and Detail plan sheets

•Ability to work and communicate successfully in a team environment

Stewart is seeking a Civil Designer II to work in our Durham office. The ideal candidate will have 10 plus years of professional experience in design and engineering of land development and infrastructure projects, construction document preparation and technical details, and analysis for storm drainage, stormwater management facilities, utilities, erosion control, parking lots, and driveway/roadways. This position will be responsible for producing consistently high quality design on a wide variety of projects, both large- and small, including single family sub-division, townhome developments, multi-family, and commercial projects. Candidate should possess experience in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and associated civil design software, and have excellent writing and communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•Perform drafting and design on projects using Civil 3D (AutoCAD)

•Perform civil design calculations for grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, paving, and site designs.

•Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology required, Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.

•Experience in large and small land/site development design and permitting in local jurisdiction(s) preferred.
